NAFA Seeks Tax Credits For Fleets That Use Clean Fuel and Low-Emission Vehicles
October 27th, 2009 - A proposal to allow state and local government vehicle fleets the ability to take advantage of federal tax credits was sent to the leadership of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and House Ways and Means Committee by NAFA’s Executive Director, Phil Russo, CAE, last week.The proposal by NAFA would allow for an Energy and Environmental Vehicle Payroll Tax Credit to be made available to state, local government, and other tax exempt entities whenever vehicle tax credits are available to regular taxpayers for clean fuel or low-emission vehicles. click here  >

Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus Gets More Articulate
October 20th, 2009 - The Big Blue Bus will purchase 11 buses from North American Bus Lines. Three of these new buses will be purchased with economic stimulus funds from the Federal government. The articulated buses will first zoom along one of the busiest routes - the Rapid 7 and then speed up the the Rapid 3 line after the initial deployment on Rapid 7 is complete. The new cleaner burning compressed natural gas buses will replace some of the older diesel buses in the fleet, in keeping with the city's commitment to sustainability. click here >

Grant Funds Disneyland Resort CNG Fueling Station Expansion
October 19th, 2009 - An expanded clean-burning compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station at the Disneyland Resort began operating this month. The expanded station, which increases CNG storage capacity at the Resort by more than 50 percent, was made necessary by the conversion of the Resort’s 16 Guest trams to CNG last year. The project was partially funded by $200,000 in Clean Transportation Funding from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) – an entity that helps to fund initiatives focused on reducing air pollution from mobile sources. click here>

Baytech's CNG Engine Now EPA, CARB Certified
October 8th, 2009 - Baytech Corp. has obtained 2010 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions certifications for the company's dedicated compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled 6.0L heavy duty engine. The engine is certified to the 2010 NOx standard of 0.2 g/bhp-hr that now applies to all heavy duty engines, a standard that Baytech's 6.0L CNG engine has been certified to since 2008. click here >

CAR Study Highlights Benefits of Greening Fleets
October 6th, 2009 - A new report by the Sustainable Transportation and Communities group at the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), a Michigan-based nonprofit research group, examines the benefits of converting corporate fleets from gasoline to compressed natural gas (CNG) and hybrid vehicles.The study concludes that the "greening" of corporate vehicle fleets presents an opportunity to move a substantial number of highly efficient, clean-fuel vehicles onto the road in a relatively short timeframe -- with results that are both environmentally and economically positive. click here >

Trillium awarded San Diego CNG project
October 1st, 2009 - The Board of North County Transit District (NCTD) awarded California Trillium Company (Trillium) a contract for CNG fueling equipment and ongoing operation and maintenance services at the transit agency's bases in Oceanside and Escondido, Calif. The contract value is estimated to be $5.8 million, including capital and 10 years of operations and maintenance at the bases. NCTD will receive the federal excise tax credits on the fuel purchases. click here >
