EPA Redemption for Waste-Based Biogas
June 19th, 2014 - The U.S. EPA is henceforth granting the same level of RFS2 – renewable fuel standard – credits to compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas derived from sewage or landfill gas as it does for cellulosic ethanol, according to a new regulation signed on July 2. “EPA is now characterizing biogas as a transportation fuel feedstock,” states the final rule. Both CNG and LNG from landfill gas, or gas from agricultural municipal wastewater, or municipal solid waste digesters, and separated MSW digesters now qualify as “additional fuel pathways,” the agency says – earning the same RFS2 credits as cellulosic ethanol. City Approves Contract with Agility Fuel Systems, New NGV Purchases
June 25th, 2014 - The city council in Santa Monica, Calif., has approved a new one-year contract with Agility Fuel Systems for the refurbishment and repair of the compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks on city transit buses. Additionally, the council approved the purchase of four CNG-powered Ford Transit Connect vehicles for use in the city's Animal Control Unit; two heavy-duty CNG-powered aerial trucks that will work on Santa Monica's traffic signals; and one additional Honda Civic Natural Gas for the municipal fleet. The Road Ahead Still Isn't Clear for Natural Gas Trucks
June 12th, 2014 - Work to develop natural gas as an alternative fuel for commercial transportation is hitting some rough patches on America's highways, industry officials said in Houston on Thursday. Commercial fleet operators from across the country gathered this week at the Omni Houston Hotel for the Natural Gas Vehicles USA Conference, where they discussed the economics of natural gas - touted as a less expensive, cleaner-burning alternative to diesel and gasoline. Oregon's First Public Natural Gas Filling Station Opens in Eugene
June 12th, 2014 - For owners of natural-gas-powered vehicles in Oregon, filling stations are few and far between. And none are open to the public. That changed Wednesday in Eugene with the opening of the state's first public compressed natural gas fueling station. While an isolated event, many experts believe that abundant domestic supplies, cost advantages and environmental benefits will help natural gas grab a much larger share of the vast U.S. market in transportation fuels. PA Logistics Company Adds Volvo CNG Trucks to Fleet
June 4, 2014 - Third-party logistics provider Kane Is Able, Inc. announced today that it is expanding its transportation fleet with seven compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered trucks.
