2 New Laws Benefit Natural Gas Vehicle Buyers and Sellers
December 30th, 2014 - After more than a year of essentially no action on NGV-related legislation, two bills were recently signed into law, moving the ball forward for natural gas vehicles: the National Defense Authorization Act and the Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014. While the Tax Increase Prevention Act is pretty straightforward -- extending a series of tax credits that expired in 2013 -- I'm sure many of you are wondering what a defense authorization law has to do with NGVs. Keys to Turning on Natural-Gas Power
December 18th, 2014 - Erik Neandross, CEO of transportation and energy consulting firm Gladstein, Neandross and Associates (GNA) took direct aim at what he called “the huge elephant sitting in the room,” the price of oil that has dropped to 50-60 dollars per barrel, in his opening remarks for the recent FleetOwner Webinar sponsored by Ryder that delved into various aspects of trucking on natural-gas power. “There’s no doubt that a lot of the folks we work with every day are asking about the impact” of this on the market for natural gas, propane autogas and electric drive vehicles,” Neandross pointed out. Denver International Airport’s NGV Fleet Recognized for Sustainability
December 9th, 2014 - For advancing the use of natural gas in its vehicle fleet to reduce emissions, improve air quality and create safer working environments, Denver International Airport (DIA) has been awarded the 2014 Natural Gas Vehicle Achievement Award. The achievement award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of natural gas as a vehicular fuel, was presented to the airport by representatives from the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation and Natural Gas Vehicles for America. Thompson Sanitation Switches to Natural Gas as Fuel for Vehicles
December 9th, 2014 - Thompson Sanitation, based in Clarks Grove (Minnesota), is one of the first local businesses to make changes now that Austin’s newest Kwik Trip at 1509 10th Place NE opened November 20 and started selling compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel, making it the first gas station in Austin to do so. “It’s a cleaner burning fuel,” route supervisor William Harmon said. “It’s produced here in the united states.” READ MORE >

Congress Looks at Natural Gas Vehicles
December 9th, 2014 - The U.S. Congress has seen action on natural gas vehicles, with the House of Representatives voting to restore important incentives for NGVs that expired at the end of 2013. Separately, a Senate Finance subcommittee took testimony from industry experts, including Rich Kassel, senior VP with Fleets and Fuels publisher Gladstein, Neandross and Associates, at a hearing titled Natural Gas Vehicles: Fueling American Jobs, Enhancing Energy Security, and Achieving Emissions Benefits. McNeilus Offers CNG Systems to Commercial Fleets
December 6th, 2014 - McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing is expanding its compressed natural gas system to include commercial fleets of all types. The company’s Next Generation (NGEN) CNG system is now available for a range of vehicles, including construction, delivery, over-the-road, and other severe-duty fleets. McNeilus is an Oshkosh Corp. company. NGEN CNG systems are available on new vehicles and retrofits through the company’s national network of regional installation centers. READ MORE >

NGV Texas Expects to Convert 400 Trucks, Buses to Run on CNG in 2015
December 4th, 2014 - Fury Zaidi beams with pride at the rows of big rigs, school buses and disassembled motors that fill up his sprawling warehouse. All will be converted to either compressed natural gas vehicles or duel fuel, where they run on both CNG and diesel. The president of Natural Gas Vehicles Texas Inc. said an estimated 400 heavy-duty vehicles will pass through the shop in 2015. A bold claim for sure but he says the demand is coming from school districts and trucking fleets across the country. READ MORE >

New Book Highlights How Natural Gas Is Revolutionizing U.S. Transportation
December 4th, 2014 - A new book, entitled "Expansion: How Natural Gas Fuels are Reshaping Transportation in America," is now available for sale. Written by industry expert Bryan Luftglass of Solitude, Utah, the book highlights the use of compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas as alternatives to gasoline, diesel and plug-in electric vehicles. Mainstay Gets Money to Expand
December 2nd, 2014 - South Carolina’s Mainstay Fuel Technologies said Monday that it’s completed a multi-million dollar investment round, providing money from an institutional partner for growth and the expansion of production capacity. The firm said it plans to consolidate its operations into a 60,000-square-foot facility in Piedmont, S.C., on the I-85 corridor between Atlanta and Charlotte. Mainstay, which manufactures compressed natural gas fuel cylinder assemblies, said it expects to complete the consolidation in the first quarter of 2015. READ MORE >
